Assignment 2C : The 101 Mask.

It's time to blog about the next assignment~ We need to produce two papier mache masks. One mask are own full face with colour, the another was face with emotion in black and white. Firstly, we tear the paper as small as possible and soak into the water overnight.

Failed mask and method

The result of the mask was ugly. It was too thick and does not smooth at all. It's failed. We was wasting around 20 pieces of mahjong paper for the mask. We plan to go to another way to make the mask. A several pieces of paper have cutted into square shape, then stick it one by one carefully. Here was the result :

Orientation : GETTHO

We are having the freshman orientation just for first year HBP student. Its organize by our seniors and it was carried out for 3 days long. GETTHO means Get Gogether. It simply means we need to get together and get to know every student in hbp and senior too.

During the last night of the orientation, we required to perform either dance, singing, or drama with our bamboo sound tool in group. Our group have performed a short drama and singing with the title of Recycle. So, we are doing some drama about we must take care of our earth and practice recycle in our life more often. We end up with singing Recycle song and playing our bamboo sound tool.

At the end of the orientation, the next King and Queen, Prince and Princess was choosen. The orientation was end up around 1am. Finally we are tired, sleepy and yet happy.

Assignment 2B: Bamboo Sound Tool

We asked to make a Bamboo Sound Tool. I was planning to make drum looks a
like instrument with bamboo. In order to make that, we need chop down some bamboo plant. Then, the bamboo need to cut into pieces in order to make that sound tool.

After cutting the bamboo into pieces, i gather up a few bamboo sticks to make the drum stick. Then i chop the large bamboo to get internodes, the hollow sections between the nodes of the bamboo. At last, i finally finish it, and the bamboo sound tool was looks like this :

Dots and Lines

We were given a task that was drawing any HBP building with dots and lines. A few picture have been taken around HBP. We need to draw a picture with dots and another with lines. Below was the result of my drawing :



Unfortunately, we draw the wrong one. All the line need to be in one direction only so the only way was REDO.

Assignment 2A : Natural Structure

This was the third assignment given to us. We were required to create a 6 image of bamboo with story line. Therefore, we were going to visit the Rumpun Buluh Research Village, USM to find bamboo clusters. We have done some rapid sketches at there before starting to sketch bamboo. We'll need to study using sketches of Bamboo Structures include:

• Life Joint
• Visual Joint
• Time Joint
• Inspirational Joint

Assignment 1b : Me, My Thought & I

Alright, this was the previous 1b assignment, we are requested to present our idea on an A2 board. We were given a tasks on the invention done by USM on how the invention may contribute to the reconstruction of USM/ Penang after the disaster. I have to do some quick update because i was late to post it.

After struggled for for few hours i manage to finish this assignment! Yay! At last, i was able to past up on time. :D

Assignment 1A : My Virtual Home

The first day of the class, a lecturer who named Mr. Wan Burhanuddin Wan Abidin introduce himself to us. He was our RUS 101 lecturer and briefing us something about Apex-Intro Identity. An accelerated chart about APEX University for few years was shown to us. It was a fast accelerated chart around the years until year 2013 prepared by USM vice-chancellor, Dzulkifli Abdul Razak.

From the briefing, I get to know that APEX stand for Accelerated Program For Excellent. It is all about how we become one of the Apex students and the need of ability for being cope with fast movement toward excellent and change for the future.

In addition, the production of APEX was combination of 3P which stand for people, principle and place. The production take place when there was an intention, then there would be act to produce a product. In summarise, actor will play the role based on rule in a specific place. The actor sconsist of student, studiomasters, usm communities, penangites, et al. (and others)

During the briefing, some question has been ask by the lecturer to a few students. The question was mainly about where the place they come from, school location and even the main factor why we choose USM as the university we want to get in. A few of studiomasters have introduce to us, as I remember was Dr. Mohd. Hanizun Hanafi the studiomaster of construction and also the coordinater of RMT 153, next was Dr. Mohd Zailan Sulieman, Ar. Mohd Najib Mohd Salleh, Sr Dr. Ilias Said, Mr. Rusli Jamaluddin, and Dr. Azizan Marzuki.

Some advice have given by the studiomasters, there were :

• wake up early
• come early to the class
  
• pass up every assignment
• submit the assignment on time
• submit the assignment to the right lecturer
• work very hard
• productive

After that, lecturer request us to open a web log or it known as blog for our 1 st assignment. The title was Virtual Home. We were requested to design and build ourself a blog and the subject was “What I heard”. We need write all what we heard during 9am to 11am on 12nd July 2010. All we need was submit our full name of and the blog address once. The address should be related to our full name because nickname was forbidden to use. Last but not least, we will see our RUS 101 lecturer, Mr. Wan Buhanuddin Wan Abidin again on this coming friday.
